What are crowns?

A crown may need to be the need of the hour when a tooth is cracked, decayed, or damaged. The best part about the Crown is that it is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth – so you don’t have to take it off before you doze off or don’t have to run to your dentist every fortnight. Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold and other metals, acrylic resin, or an amalgam (a mix) of these materials. Most of the patients prefer porcelain crowns since they have the most realistic appearance, although they tend to be less durable than other materials. A dazzling smile might just be a visit away sine crowns can whiten, reshape, and realign existing teeth, resulting in a most amazing transformation of your teeth.

The Process

It is an extremely safe and painless procedure and the first visit will result in the actual reconstruction of the crown – which starts by using local anesthesia around the target tooth (that will be crowned) – this is done to remove the decay in or around it. The tooth is then re-scultped to provide an easy fit for the crown. The whole process is performed in a painless manner with complete precision. The use of advanced scientific instruments ensures that the process is 100% successful.

This is done to create an exact impression of your teeth – The custom-made and permanent crowns are created (this usually takes one to two weeks). Our dental experts will fit a temporary crown till the permanent crown is ready for application.

You will be guided and counseled through the whole process by our acclaimed team of dentists.

Crown – The application

The purpose of the next visit is the removal of the temporary crown and fitting of the permanent crown onto the teeth. Your dentist will place the crown over the target area then cements the crown into place.

The maintenance angle

Just like the normal teeth, a crown also needs a regular hygienic routine which involves daily brushing and flossing – This will help to keep the teeth, gums, and new crown free from the bacteria that can cause gum disease. For a long lasting health of crowns, it is advisable that you don’t chew on hard foods such as ice or pistachios and other food items. With a disciplined approach towards your dental hygiene, Crowns can last for a life time.

Our representatives are conversant in English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Portuguese and accept most insurances and we do have in house financing.
