What are Lumineers?

In close similarity with the traditional veneers, Lumineers have the capability to reshape your smile and give you that perfect smile makeover. A Lumineer fill up gaps between teeth and improve the cosmetic appearance of corroded and stained teeth. They are proven to be safe for people of all ages with a high degree of cosmetic aesthetics.

Lumineers & Porcelain veneers

One of the major differences Lumineers and veneers is the usage of special patented cerinate porcelain which is used in Lumineers – Cerinate porcelain is very strong but much thinner than traditional laboratory-fabricated veneers. The cosmetic value of lumineers is enhanced because of the fact that their thickness is comparable to contact lenses, and so they are often called contact lenses for your teeth. Lumineers can be compared to ultra-thin veneers and the best part is that minimal tooth preparation is required. To a great relief for the patients, the lumineer procedure is often reversible, since your natural tooth structure is left in its original state unlike traditional veneers, where a significant amount of your tooth structure may need to be removed.

Lumineers – Advantages

An extremely versatile version of veneers, Lumineers can be placed over existing crown and bridge work, without the need to make any adjustments. They are the perfect solution for stained, chipped, discoloured or structurally misaligned teeth. Dentists find it extremely easy to fit a lumineer over a set of teeth with having to do a lot of groundwork. This means that you do not have to undergo a process whereby the dentist uses a small drill to reshape your tooth. Your dentist will remove a small piece which is identical to the shape and thickness of a lumineer. There is no risk of any alteration in the existing structure of your dentures which is critical if further work is needed or the veneer has to be removed.
